Welcome to Ady’s speed challenge!!!
It’s full title, which frames it’s rules for participation is the Midwest, freeride, GoPro peak speed challenge . I started this competition by daring my fellow windsurfers to best my peak speed of 34 mph. Soon after I was toppled off my speed throne by Bob M. who is the current peak speed leader /see pictures below/ Thus the goal of the challenge changed to daring you to beat Bob M.’s GoPro peak speed for top honors, bragging rights and a 25.4 oz bottle of strong, delicious La Fin Du Monde (when/if we meet).

RULES!!!
1. Midwest bodies of water only !!!
2.Windsurfing equipment only!!! Foil is fine, but no land, no ice and especially no kite!
3.To be eligible you have to provide a GoPro snapshot of your peak/max speed in a similar format like mine with location and a short description of the kit used. Only GoPro on camera GPS speed reading is accepted!!!
4. Somewhat grey area, but the more of your equipment falls into the free-something category the stronger your challenge. Me and perhaps a few other windsurfers won’t be able to afford a specialised speed/slalom kit so let’s keep it fair and accessible to all as much as possible.

I’d be happy to post here also pictures of the” Club 30 “/those who have recorded speeds above 30 mph/ windsurfers as long as they provide a GoPro picture in compliance with the rules above . Hopefully one day we create a “Club 40” as well :woohoo:

Now get on the water and godspeed in your quest of becoming the freeride speed KING of the Midwest!
Yours truly, Ady /the former :( speed king /

Wow, Bob! You smacked it! Are you sure you don’t have a 40 in somewhere in the footage, you are 1 mph away from Club 40!
39 makes you the front sailor now and the one to beat. I better have a bottle of beer with me if I ever meet you :)
Did you use the same kit-Futura 124+NCX 7.0+Drake SL 44 ?

Sorry, I can’t. The rules are strict-GoPro only. Next time.

Sorry, my mistake!

Midwest speed challenge? I want in! Those are some great speeds being posted. I currently only have wave gear, but between a few friends i think could round up a couple of multi cam race sails, a vintage speed gun, seat harness, and assorted pain killers. I've had some great rides on Clinton, sounds like to place to make this Mexican showdown happen. I respectfully accept the challenge and all liabilities associated with it. LAS GRANDES AMAS ESTAN llEGANDO!

Terrific! You didn’t mention GoPro availability, I accept only GoPro screenshots like those posted. Btw Bob raised the level impossibly high yesterday, 39 mph will be very hard to beat without specialised gear but you are welcome to try.

Wendell, I likewise don’t have the high performance speed gear but I’m still going to try to reach 40mph. I really didn’t have a chance to match their speed on my 5.8 sail and Mistral custom 93 litter board. I do know that I hit 29mph but didn’t even feel I was going that fast and certainly not anywhere near my fastest speed. I know I can go 10mph faster in the right conditions.

So why Gopro over a GPS app? Seems the app is more accurately giving your speed. I’m using the GPS app regardless but just curious why it matters. I’m okay with only participating in the site top speed challenge.
