13 windsurf sessions during a one week holiday. That’s a first!

The last week of February windsurfing was on at Sven’s surf station ‘Surftribe’ in Sao Pedro. Sao Pedro is a small non-touristic place on the island Sao Vincente | Cape Verdie. Sven chose this spot for great reasons: slalom, speed and freestyle surfing. There is good spirit at this station and his staff respectfully help and advise when needed.

The station provides a pick up service from and to the airport, which came handy because we and others brought our own gear. The airport is just a few minutes away with one landing/starting stroke. Arriving planes – let it be 2-4 a day - fly quiet low over Sao Pedro bay. That is the reason why kiting is not permitted there. Just a couple of hours after our landing we surfed the first runs in Sao Pedro bay.

Windforecasts and Windsurfing gear
Sao Vincente is located in the north east trade winds, blowing in the winter period. When following the wind forecasts we expected to go out with our own gear. We brought 5,4m sails to 7,1 m. The 7,1 we dit not use at all. We quickly learned that the forecast always is plus a lot of more knots. We figured that with a forecast of 15 knots, add 5, with 20 knots add 10 and with 25 knots add 15 and more
