I've been windsurfing for 20 years now, started out here in the Midwest on the local lakes, then Cape Hatteras, Lake MI, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon Coast and Maui.
After a marginal start Clinton came through later in the afternoon with a good 5.2 session which Frank and I took advantage of, unfortunately Paul and Brett left just before it came up. I had to blow off a wedding due to the late sesh but thanks to Frank I made the reception at the Beef House, sure hit the spot after getting my wind fix!!!
The overcast conditions gave way to broken clouds on my drive over to Clinton Lake and upon my arrival around 9:30 the sky cleared to brilliant sunshine and nuclear winds making for Gorge like conditions and smoke on the water!!! With temps in the 70's and wearing a 3/2 convertible wetsuit sailing my 4.7 pulled flat to the maximum settings am I dreaming or could this actually be mid November in I
Glen WIll. After a couple 50 mph gusts caught me off gaurd there wasn't any question it was no dream. Unfortunately I sailed solo on the best day there this fall season.
Looks like the perfect setup for Lake Michigan to go off on the Holiday Weekend!!!! Sunday afternoon and Monday maybe the bigger warm water days of the Fall season.
Silver Beach at St. Joe, MI came through with an excellent 5.7 northerly session from noon until dark yesterday. Steve Reyburn and I had a reunion with the South Bend sailors that I haven't seen in a few years and had a great time. I think there were 6 windsurfers and a dozen kiters out enjoying the 4 - 7' swells at the end of the piers.
How's it going? Had some wild storms go thru today, over 70mph clocked near bloomington headed to watseka. Was doing parties and graduation ceremony for my son this weekend.
