Straight line speed might be boring for some and I respect that; it's just exhilarating for me! Everyone has it's favorit "medicine "!
Check this vid. On-board cam, full throttle on the 10th finisher of this year's Défi Wind in the south of France. Stick to it till 0:41 when the race starts: the boat passing really close! And a few close crossings and passing with other windsurfers here and there. Just wish I was there!

Yeah, baby! The start line is just crazy! Anyone ready to travel there next year?! ...that’s just really tempting for the sailing/race but also for the ambiance on the beach and all the newest gear being displayed, etc. Very cool.

Salut Sylvain. I'm also from France. While your sailing experience is in the southwest of France, mine was in the southeast: in Hyères, at L'Almanarre. This was my windsurfing playground in the 80's and 90's. The lac de Salagou looks very nice. It reminds me when I sailed on the Lac de Ste. Croix. Similar type of place and beautiful surroundings.
Defi Wind took place May 10-13 this year. It looks intimidating but the nice thing about it is that there's average windsurfers participating too. No need to be a pro!

I missed it by a week then. I was there may 19thto June 4th this year.

Tech is evolving so fast that I’m not sure this is still relevant. Also, I was talking about GoPro mainly. I think there are other brands doing action cam but I haven’t looked into them since the post.

Well, believe me, I’m going straight and somewhat fast because that’s also what I do best! Ha!
Yes, if you sail in and around Chicago, I could certainly drive down!

Last year she bought me a gopro for father day.
Used it in outer banks on a surfing trip and lost it to the bottom of the ocean on day 1
Keeping my eyes opened for a cheaper option

That's cool. Unfortunately, I'll be in France with the family at the end of June and will miss it. Maybe in 2021? ...because I found a way to get everyone in my family open to the idea of a trip to Maui in June or July of 2020!
