Awesome day at the Marina. Ady was out already on his Green Machine. I rigged 5.8 with 108 FSW. Because my boom was already there from last time. I headed up to The Narrows with no problem. The 5.8 smoothed out the conditions. I was lit at times but never overpowered. Not quite enough sustained 25+ to make me drop down to a 4.7. The wind shifted at times from SW to WSW and even S one time. I tried Vulcans, 360s, and at the end of the day going switch stance and trying to duck the sail in the smoother water of the beginner cove. I caught the sail on the other side once. Which was huge for me even though I crashed. I also tried the spin loop exercise where you pull the sail around with you in a pivot jibe. Sorry I didn't get any shots of ya, John. Next time! Great day, glad to see everybody!
Storms at night screwed up the peak winds in the table. You'll have to eyeball the charts.
“heaven on earth at lake clinton” Sylvain rippin' on his JP All Ride 106 L with 5.3 sail. And look at that scenery. It's like windsurfing in the French countryside.
Sylvain (5.3 sail)
Rich (7.5 sail). At The Narrows
Ady (5.2 sail). Working The Narrows like a local. Who are we kidding. He is a local. Anymore time at Clinton Lake and he'll be a buoy.
Ady (5.2 sail). Peeling one off.
Ady (5.2 sail). That looks like a strap to strap jibe.
Me (5.8 sail). Ski boat setting me up for a jump. Would have been better if he was coming the other way.
Me (5.8 sail). Welcome to Clinton Lake wave sailing.
Me (5.8 sail). Smacking the lip on the top turn
Me (5.8 sail). Letting the sail out and simply riding the wave. Could have ridden it to the Swim Beach.
Me (5.8 sail). You could rip a turn behind the breakwalls and in the beginner cove with this wind direction.
Me (5.8 sail). Windsurfing and Bass fishing go hand and hand at Clinton Lake. They're the only ones out also in the spring and fall.
Me (5.8 sail). Going for a Vulcan. Still learning, still having fun.
Kite/foil dude, who’s “nefarious” activity was so effortless that he looked like someone who will fall asleep any moment .... If you want foils, wings etc. just come out of the closet and pick up kiting. There’s nothing to be ashamed of and you’ll save yourself tons of money, space, time and most importantly frustration.
One of the cheapest ways for some folks to get into kite foiling and get the same sensation, is kite foiling the moving walkways and carousels at O'Hare...
A guy going for a kite foil jibe
Warning: Kite foiling moving walkways and carousels is illegal
