Welcome to the big board world Chris Hopefully it will be as good or better tomorrow, although I’m not sure where I’m going to sail yet /missus factor at play/.
Missed you showing up Ady. You are a regular now. Hope you find somewhere to get some good rides. And you mean, welcome back to the big board sailing. I got that rig like 15 years ago maybe. Gave it to a friend then got it back the circle of the life of windsurfing. If your going to rebuild why not start at the fountain. See ya!
5.8 or bust!. That's the only sail I brought out. Fun day at the Marina. The 4 o'clock blow kicked in. 5.8 with 108 FSW. Wind turned WSW. Swell started to get main pool bigness as the fetch was staring to coming out of the dam pool into the main pool.. Had to wait for rain showers to pass. One just north of the lake and one just south. And then it was on.
At The Narrows. Looking southwest. Rain shower just on the other side of the trees. Hoping there's no lightning.
Rich and I at The Narrows.
Rich (8.5 sail). The Kona One rippin'
Me (5.8 sail). I tried a bunch of Vulcans.
Me (5.8 sail). I'm not putting the nose down and pivoting off it like I should.
Me (5.8 sail). Lean forward and use all the rocker...
...luckily the new Neil Pryde impact vest comes with an airbag.
Me (5.8 sail). Lower light makes the GoPro use a slower shutter speed. Shows motion.
Me (5.8 sail). I'm going to get a 360 if it harelips everybody in Naperville.
Me (5.8 sail). Almost had it. Front foot is not over the center line and is pulling the board flat out of the lean. Makes the board stop turning. Tongue sticking out doesn't help the board come around either.
The board hates going backwards. And will buck you off and head on down the trail without you. First the water hits your body and your head keeps going back. And then the water hits your head and shoves it forward hard...
...then the board wake covers the body.
All of which caught the attention of the Turkey Vultures. And they hovered in to take a closer look. 'till next time.
