Could fun to epic day at Peninsula. ENE around 5.8 sail. If and if the rain cuts us a break. Will give updates. Cross fingers.

What is everybody thinking about Saturday?
Launching spot?
What is the best time to be on the water?
Sail size?

Gordon - Saturday 9/08/18 6 years 3 months ago #6

NOAA sure makes it look like there will be rain all day. If there is any break, I'll head to the Peninsula launch. Late afternoon looks best for wind so far, maybe after 2pm? If it's really 20-30, I'd be on my 6.0 (my smallest sail).

The heavy rain looks to be south of the lake. It might be like that time we sailed in the drizzle a couple of seshes ago.

Yeah, Peninsula is the launch. I'm bringing 6.9 to 4.2. The gust forecast strength is high. Models have a hard time with hurricane remnants. Air temp could be only 59 F . Think about your suit.

If the rain gets too heavy or you just don't want to deal with it, Sunday is an option. Not as strong but looks 6.9-able. Right now the rain is just a light drizzle here in Champaign.

Good day at Clinton Lake today.
I am a tad disappointed with myself. I did not complete a single carve jibe today, which feels like s step back.
Also, I had my gopro, and I thought I was recording a good video with Behind me, pretty close... however, I must have messed up because I could not find this video
All in all, a day well worth it anyway.
Until next time.

Goal for the year: complete 2 carving jibes in one session
