Since 5.8 is my largest sail I am going to keep an eye on things and if the wind picks up south of the lake then I'll head that way. Let me know if it's windier there than the site is showing. Thanks!
I drove down and saw you Sailing Reid, there were other cars parked there but nobody was around and you were the only one on the water. It want good enough for my 5.8 and I had other things to do so I left. There seemed to be more North in it than I anticipated, you were sail over near the firing range. Hope you got some good rides.
This lake would have been phenomenal without the tall tree line around it. Otherwise Bloomington showed a good 20-30 mph wind all day long and I was jealous that you guys have a good time and I’m working.
It was a good day at Peninsula. Sailed 6.9 with 108 FSW. It was too patchy for 5.8. Overpowered at times on my 6.9. Wind was ENE - 2 miles of fetch. Long reaches in the main pool. Far side had rippin' wind and flat water for strap to strap full planing jibes. Water is deep here, swell got up to 2 feet high in places. A 4.2 day here would be awesome. Some folks say their best times at Clinton have been here on ESE days. I got off the water around 6:00 pm. Water temp was 53 F
If Decatur and Champaign don't register a gust on EVERY hour it's not quite 5.8-able. The best of the wind zone was not quite south of Bloomington this time. The opposite was seen back on Wednesday 4/18/2018 when Decatur was 25 to 35 and Bloomington and Champaign were only 10 -15. The wind zone was not north of Decatur on that day.

The Peninsula gate to its park is open. I haven't been able to sail from the park since the budget cuts of 2002. I've moved the marker and changed the popup pic on the Launches page for Peninsula.
Grassy rigging and half the walk of Peninsula road.
Scenic overlook shelter
Hill top to see what the wind's doing.
Looking all the way up at the Marina
Wide path with stairs to sand to pebbles. Really nice. The old dock is gone.
