NOAA: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Breezy, with a south wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
Marina, late afternoon into sunset, looks like the spot. Head up wind to The Narrows for full on solid wind. You can stand up on the sides up there too. Watch for logs.
Today will be 3rd day in a row of 20+ mph all day.: 6.2 on Sat, 5.4 on Sun, and today it's blowing 23-38 mph at Clinton lake (Lawrence, KS) at 9 am!!! I'll get to sail my 4.8 today for sure. I'll post some screen shots later if they're worthy.
I didn't have a very successful day today, but it was nice to be out on the water. Hoping for some more good days that coincide with my days off of work.
I would say that being at the lake with friends and family as well as getting some rides on a windsurfer is a successful day. Didn't you say you were successfully water starting? Anyway, I'm glad the wind finally decided to show up! I had a good time, sailed my 5.2 and 4.7, always good to see Reid and Glen out as well. Hope to see ya again soon.
Awesome day at Clinton(Lawrence, KS) w/gust to 40 mph. Alternately completely underpowered to completely overpowered on a 4.8, then same thing later on with a 5.4. Still guys sailing/kiting in shorties, nearly 90 F for the high. Finally hit my first Shove-it,....so, there's that, but Shaka is still elusive. 3 days in a row of short board sailing: I'm cashed.
I took the day off and was headed to South Haven at lunchtime, but Eric was already at Holland said it was blowing good there. By the time I got to Holland it was backing off to about 14 or so. I was banging my head against the hood because I left my "wind sup" (Fanatic Fly 10'6") at home because why would I need it when it was going to be 20-30???
But then Kirby called from Little Sable Point and said it was howling. The Muskegon GLERL page was showing 14-17 but LSP tends to be much windier than anywhere nearby. So I hauled my ass even farther north and YES! The two of us had the place to ourselves with sweet waves and very solid 5.3 wind
Great jumping conditions and wind slightly side-off so I got to practice my bottom turns on the nipple-high rollers. Then I drove all the way to Midway airport to pick up my mom. Long awesome day.... and super warm. Hard to believe it's mid October.
It was a good day for a workout. Very gusty. The wind felt like 10 to 40 with the straight S, side off, wind. I was either off plane or over powered on my 4.7 with 60cm 95L FSW. Screaming jibes on the west side of The Narrows - hoping the board doesn't skip out half way into cranking one. Saw one log sticking up stuck to the bottom up wind of The Narrows on the west side. Around 3:00 is when it dropped the hammer and started raging. I went out for a second sesh around 4:00. I would have rigged my 4.2 if the wind had more SSW in it as forecast. Lake was trying to swell out in the middle. The direction this day did make a guy think about what the West Side launch would of been like. The Marina really needs about 200+ degrees for its sweet spot. My body is still sore today. First time on the water since June.
