Water temp at West Side is 67 degrees. It's been staying consistent at being 10 degrees cooler than Area 32 all year. I started on the 6.9 Ezzy Tiger and RRD FSW 108 sometime after 2:00. Around 3:45 I switched to the 5.8 and 108 as the 4:00 blow started to kick in. The sun had been out all day. Started to get over powered around 5:20 but stay with it. Got off the water sometime around 6:00. It was still windy. It was a good day to test the top end of the RRD FSW 108 with the 5.8. West Side had really tough chop today. And West Side can have some of the worst on the lake on strong S-SE wind. The RRD FSW 108 cut right through it nicely. The full V and tail rocker eases the board back on the water when flying over chop. Like a big old Buick Roadmaster with Cush-Glide. I put a K-One FR 34cm on it. This fin rips a turn and never felt over powered and never spun out.. Looking at the low height of the nose rocker of the RRD FSW 108 would make you think it wouldn't turn very well. What is harder to see until you put it on a flat surface and step on the tail is the subtle continuous rocker from mast track to tail. No dead flat spots on this board. The thin rails, relatively small tail, and V make this board rip turns. The broad shoulders get and keep it on plane in the straights. It acts like a big ass wave-board, which is what I wanted. It did a good job of smoothing out gusty holey conditions and make it fun.
This side of West Side did have some nice flat water and solid wind being squeezed around the high bank and treeline.
