On the wind scale there's, lit, hammered, and ape shit. The forecast models didn't have Ape Shit on their bingo cards. Got on the water at 10:30am. First time I put an extra cm of downhaul on this 4.0. That worked for a while. Later in the day I had to come in and hope the wind backed off a bit. I got back out Strongest wind of the year so far. It got to sustained 38 mph, gusts to 48 mph. Water temp back to 69F.

Looks mild, doesn't it? Look at the gust sneak up behind me. Getting out was hairy.



While you're schlogging, here's a gust that can make liquid smoke. Wham!



You'll be alright once you get in the middle with the steadier wind.

At one point at full speed I got back-winded. I think I got hit by a dust devil. Which can happen on the lake with 40+



How big is the swell on Clinton? Big enough to get a Bass boat airborne off the backside!






Don't try this at home. Finding a big ramp and letting 40+ suck you up in the air while hooked in the whole time.






Didn't get the hand exchange, but felt good to slide backwards.
