Strongest wind of the year. Got nuked off my 4.0 at the end of the day. Water temp 72F. Had to keep jumping in to cool down from the air temp in my 3.2 suit. Chris had to come in too, too much for his 4.2 at the end of the day.
Boulder. It really needs straight SE, but then you would want to be at Wooded Beach farther west. This was SSE wind. The west 3rd of the swim beach had the best conditions. More down wind had tree blockage and less clean wind coming off the houses. . More up wind it was gustier wind with the shorter fetch.
Boulder parking and rigging - also for Wooded Beach
A bit of a hike. Boulder includes out door scenery and wildlife fun. I almost got trampled by 3 deer I spooked when I first walked down without the camera.
Wisconsin called, they want their boulder back, along with some of the most expensive topsoil in the US.
Look at that thing. Dropped off by a glacier.
The west 1/3 of the swim beach is a jibe-o-torium. Water is deeper here close to shore and I guess chop can't form as easily.
Rip into jibe and flip boom to boom.
Catch switch stance
Take back foot and step straight into front foot strap while ripping. .
While you're there hook in while ripping
Get into back strap while ripping.
Off and away.
I headed up to the houses for a speed run. Look at this water. I couldn't get a fill-in blast for a speed run in this spot.
Windy in Kansas that day too! Steady 40 gusting to 60! My smallest sail is a 4.0 and it was a handful! My buddy was on a 3.5 and overpowered!
Sailed 2 hrs of 4.5 yesterday on north wind as well, and it looks like we have Monday and next Friday for more wind.
