Monday 9/12/22 Part 2: Purgatory Cove. The wind was very stealthy. The surrounding stations were not reflecting what was happening at the lake. The lake seemed windier. The Euro gust forecast said that I should rig my 4.8 Freek and wait. The wind looked 5.6. As we rigged the wind picked up. Eric re-rigged down to 5.0 with Psycho 92. I was on the verge of re-rigging to 4.8 but I wanted to get Eric on the water. I showed him the Lewis and Clark path. He handled Purgatory like a Navy Seal. I got out first with my 5.6 and when I hit the windline, wham! - it's 4.8 wind out here. Came right in to re-rig. Chris made it out on 5.2. Eric was rippin' and putting on a show. Then we saw a guy on a big ass sail, a 9.5 on a Kona, this could be only one man - Rich! What a great 2 days.
Even BETTER day than Sunday! I think I sailed for over 3 hrs...I was soooo tired that it made the drive back to KC a bit of a heavy lift. I wish there woulda been some bigger swell and that I would have been more aware that Reid is ever present and filming: I woulda thrown a couple forwards for fun! Too focused on the tricks I can't yet hit. to do the ones that are easy. Great to sail with you guys!
I had a great Slalom session on Sunday until I tore my figure nail half off doing doing a duck jibe where the sail hit the water and my figures got jammed into the clue. Monday was a little frustrating as I am still sailing the Mistral flow that was given me while I search for a new board. The board leaves much to desired which I won't go into now. Was good seeing Reid and Eric going for it! Both them boys were working on their tricks. I did manage to tack around the front and got half way on a flat water 360, Reid's signature move. I drove home that I got to quit sitting on my hands and start looking seriously for a new ride. If cursing is good for you I am in much better health after Monday:)
