The way NOAA calculates max sustained(base) is it takes a snapshot of a one minute average. And in this case it was 37 mph. That's an average of one minute. And just when you settle into that litness, here comes a 47 mph gust. This was the high end test of my new gear - Severne Freek 4.0 and Severne Psycho 102. I never got catapulted and never tail walked. It rips upwind over chop. I did have to back off from The Narrows it was just starting to get too much up there. We had to wait for rain to finally pass around 9:30 am. It would have been nice to have been able to get on the water around 7:00 am for more of that morning wind solidness. Water temp at the Marina is 80 F. Broke out the lycra.
