Maiden voyage part 2: Gusts over 40, lulls to 15 mph. Now this is a testing ground. Got to try the Severne Freek 4.0 on the Severne Psycho 2. Brutal wind at The Corner.
Using the same GoPro and Flymount. The difference is the square tail piece of the Goya boom, they keep them wide even in the smaller sizes. Boom length on the 4.0 is 152cm and still able to get this great view.(Superview mode)
Tacks are easier with the mast track closer to the front straps. Board is stable.
So much volume under your feet you can not only schlog in the harness but also in the straps as you see that 40 mph gust coming.
Very clean water release with the sharp back rails and square tail. I feared a freestyle board would knock your fillings loose with Clinton's nasty chop. Not the case at all with the Severne Psycho. Pretty damn smooth.
Chop hop
The board will go into a 360 just trust it and lay into it. The sail shuts off so fast feels like it disappears. Doesn't get back handy when overpowered like a power wave sail. Somehow a freestyle sail with a tight leech is able to do that. Unbelievably stable. Need to learn to trust it.
Hairy condition to be trying this stuff. 'till next time!
