NOAA: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. A 20 percent chance of showers after 4pm.
Looks like a good day for the Marina. S wind in the 6.9 range - maybe going to 5.8 late afternoon, but 89 air temp has 10% less wind force than air temp in the 50s. Roughly a sail size. So maybe stay on the 6.9. Who wants to race to the Dam? It was lots of fun last time.
It was as funky as we thought. I was on the water for 4 1/2 hours with no break. Stayed with 6.9 sail. Always funky when the air temp gets up around 90F. High humidly also makes the wind soft. You know that dream you have where you can't run, the ground feels like jello? That's what it felt like most of the time. Not enough wind to consistently be able to water-start. You know it's light when Rich can't get his 9.5 and Kona on plane. I was able to catch some puffs above The Narrows. Water was cooler up there to wet down my Lycra. To set up the race course, the Defi Clinton Lake, the wind direction needs to be 170 - 180 South. Not something in the 190s. To shoot us up to the dam and back.

(6.9 sail) Gopro attached to the boom with Flymount. In CinemaScope - GoPro Super View. I'm on plane with no whitecaps.
(6.9 sail) She's light. I'm working with it. Not enough wind to consistently be able to water-start. Tack.
(6.9 sail) Here we go. Hit the rail...
(6.9 sail) ...flip the sail.
Rich down wind. (9.5 Lion with Kona) He can't get that on plane. I'm coming in.
(6.9 sail) I fell in and got stuck by the Marina. Was able to catch a water start and get back in.
