Great shot. Great form! That would make an awesome profile cover if you wanted a new one.

Thanks, that’s I worked on mostly. The main issue with this kit is the weight of the rig and having hard time lifting it back up after laydown. Many times it makes me weigh on the tail and hook the turn sharp. I had some that I liked a lot and some not so much, even managed to do a coffin after a failed Duck  I feel like the low tail volume of the Atom gets overwhelmed and a meatier tail of a slalom board would tolerate the weight better.
Some more:

Oh, I tried something new for me. Placing the carving foot farther forward-a tip from Sailworks rider Phil. I think it helped to prevent the hooking of the turn to some extent. Good tip for slim tails and heavy rigs.

There you go-the monocycle of windsurfing

Ha! I just got myself a "moncycle of windsurfing"! Funny and on-point comparison, but I hope to prove you wrong my friend! ;)
At least I think my motivations are somehow legit:
1- Learn something new to discover new sensations!
2- Save my knees and elbows from my giant 9.4 sail that's too demanding to pump in light wind anyway.

BTW, awesome pictures in your previous posts. Hope to join you one of these days in Chicago... What do you think the water temp is at Wolf Lake?

Kites and foils are not allowed on Wolf :P
Just teasing you, but keep in mind -that lake eats fins for breakfast /mine at least/ , too many shallow spots as you know and I noticed the foiling guy hit the bottom the other day and went overboard. I’m sure you’ll do better though, I have no doubt.
The water temperature must be somewhere in the 40s since I removed one layer of insulation and my feet didn’t get cold. Chicago shore is supposed to be 41F right now, so it’s acceptable.

Cool! Once past 45, I'm in!
I hear you: I have no desire to risk the foil in Wolf's shallows. I remember our session back in November on Black Friday and the tip of my fin got chewed up nicely indeed!
I'll keep the foiling adventures for lake Michigan to begin with. At least I can easily spot the sand banks out there!

OMG I’m having too much fun with this monocycle thing, Im such a dushbag, I hope Greg doesn’t get madd at me ! Back to the laydown jibe. I tried it the other day again with the 6.5 this time and the same thing happened-the board overrotates /hooks up/ when I try to flip. I’m starting to suspect that it’s not the rig weight that’s pushing me back, but the common mistake Colin is talking about in his instruction video-the clew touches the water and becomes an anchor without me noticing, hence why it feels so heavy all of a sudden. Not 100% positive, but very likely, I’ll have to look for that detail the next time.

Pictures from Wed 04.17.19 Clinton, Marina launch. I’m not sure if this is the 5.7 or the 4.7. I used single 28 cm fin.

Some of the pictures from Friday 04.26. Different this time was my front footstraps positions. I moved them max forward inspired by Reid’s setup, but left the rear one on the old middle position. I think I like that setup better then my old-all in the middle-setup.
The tri-fin set was the other “novelty “ where I used stiff middle fin and softer sides to add a bit of looseness to the turns. I think it all worked well and I had some fun swell rides well downwind of the other guys.
I’m posting a little sequence where I’m trying to do it the proper way-unhooked, even moved my back hand for the top and back hand-like a pro
Some random pictures too.
Oops, the initial photo selection was wrong so I’ve reposted the sequence:

Nice pics/session. Wish LC was a bit closer!

What’s the theory behind footstrap placement? Why did you move the front forward? To just open the stance? More control? Is that helping weight distribution during jibes?

By the way, when I was experimenting single or dual back strap on the Starship, I noticed the ride on single strap is a lot more tiring for my quads that tend to burn faster that way. I think that’s due to the body position that is slightly more facing forward resulting in the back leg taking more of the body weight. When on dual straps, the feet are more aligned, the upper body is more parallel to the board and weight distribution seems more even between both legs - thus less tiring. But it seems to me that dual strap also promotes a more static sailing posture.
