I’m split between Clinton, Wolf and Greenwood. Clinton is my top choice for now, because of stronger wind and warmer water prospects. The afternoon rain forecast is making me uneasy though. I don’t know if Wolf is frozen or not.
Anyone else thinking of sailing tomorrow?
This turned out to be a nice day after all. Me and Greg launched on Wolf at 11:30 this morning. The wind was kinda light so we started with the biggest gear we had -
7.5/110 for me and 8.5/125 for Greg. After and hour, hour and a half it picked up and we had to downsize to 6.5 and 7.0 respectively . It was great blasting back and forth, chasing each other. Well mostly me trying to catch up to Gregory who was zooming past me looking very fast on his Goya Bolt. My top speed for the day was 27 mph with both the 7.5 and 6.5 and I’m curious what his gps has registered.
We left just after 4:00 pm and hit The Bulldog in downtown Whiting for beer and Cuban sandwiches.
Nice day considering the air temperature might have reached 50F and although the water was cold and the sky cloudy it didn’t feel very cold. A bit of sunshine would have been welcome though.
Another day stolen away from Winter

Hey Ady, that was a fun day! Glad I traveled down to Chicago. Good wind, nice temps but cold water. No problem as long as hands were not in it for more than a few seconds! For once, it was nice to sail flat water in 15-20kn. That’s rarely what I sail in and around Sheboygan. Here are a couple of good pictures and my GoPro registering my top speed at just 30mph while sailing the 7.0 (sry, image is upside down). I’ll check later what the speed was when sailing the 8.5...
Synchronized jibes - almost! ...should be an olympique discipline
Ady giving the Goya Bolt a shot (I’ll tell you how fast you were tomorrow...)
Back on our respective gear, plus a hand-shake!
Zoom...
Woop, see that sail flip?!
Splash, in the drink!

Why did you cut my head in half?! What have I done to you?!
Just teasing. Next time put your camera on “super view “, I won’t ride your kit otherwise I bet you are making a sigh of relief now . Now seriously, the Bolt is a one amazing board, i would be more then happy to replace the Atom with the 115L ... if only someone donates me one. On the Lion...I’ll pass, that deep shape is just not my cup of tea.
