Due to the ENE direction this past weekend, Greenwood sailors fled to Northwestern to get a slight sideshore angle and some shorebreak relief. I tried it for the very first time, fun and interesting. First, free parking available on weekends near the boating center. Second, a spectacular beach view of the skyline. Third, a bizarre north rip current in the cove sweeps you up and buries your sail if the clew touches the water. After getting out, not too hard, pretty nice 6.0 conditions wth 4-6 irregular swell, surprisingly relaxing if you steer around the bumps or just bury the tail to slow down a bit. Jibing a bit of an adventure, but fun when you catch a swell to coast through the last bit. Memorable day, unique conditions.

Ah cool, David. I was looking at your Northwestern spot on the Launches page. Reminds me of the time I sailed at Hammond Beach because Whihala Beach got too onshore. It was fun to jibe on the swell. Not nearly the nice views you had.
