Sitting right now in my car in the Stealworkers park/87th St and outside is poring rain while according the Weather Channel it’s supposed to be desert dry. The Calumet sensor says 6.5 Crib says 5.2 and there’s absolutely nobody here in and out of the water. Awesome :( . Rigged the 6.5 while the rain was light, so I’ll go in with the Atom when/ if rain slows down.

Well 6.5 was okay for a while and then 7.5 and then it dropped below my abilities soon after 4 o’clock. Should have started with the 7.5 right away, I wouldn’t have lost time rerigging. The sensors readings misguided me . Overall nice but short.

Glad you got some rides, Ady!!

Skunk for me. I was busy until about 1:30 or so, when I got home my neighbor Kevin was out on his 5.9 here in Rogers Park, ripping most of the time but off the plane sometimes which should have prompted me to rig bigger. But it seemed like it was blowing, crib and Wilmette buoy were showing solid low to mid 20s NNW, there were big waves and sailors were out at Greenwood. I hit the water sometime after 2, I rigged a 5.4 since Kevin is heavier than me and needless to say it dropped big time right after that, only got on a plane once and not for long. Lots of shlogging in big swell, I kept hoping for a wind line but it never came, finally gave up and turned around. By the time I got back in Kevin was already on his surfboard - and I managed to catch a nice wave into the beach so it wasn't all bad. I grabbed a boogie board and some fins and ended up having more fun than I expected, caught some really good rides with that. Water chilly, needed a full wetsuit.

With hindsight a 7.5 probably would have been perfect for at least and hour or more, but it was still a fun afternoon. Busy weekend, I only have until about 11:30 a.m. tomorrow but hoping to get in a morning session if it's not raining. iWindsurf predicts 17-22 mph, might need a 7.5 again!

On my way the Wall. If the wind doesn’t pick up I may go windsuping at Rainbow. Anyone?

Ended up going to Rainbow. Windsuping with my 9’ Comverse and the 5.7 which is my favourite combo for light wind wave riding. The wind was directly onshore, so it took me a bit to get the feel of the place, but after that I had great fun wave riding the shore break. Rainbow beach is very nice with its sheltered right corner that allows you to get out behind the shore break, it’s like cheating.
Made a few pictures after I came in including some of a surfer dude who came when I was leaving.

Thanks! Missed this one. Looking at this direction is like a different place, without the highrises in the background.
