It didn't look like much from the shore, so I started boldly on my 103/5.7. As soon as I cleared the little island's shadow though, I started realizing that I've underestimated the conditions badly and after just cople of runs I came in to switch to the better manageable 94/4.7. The chop running in the opposite direction created the illusion of a calmer and flatter conditions. Some of my exploits of the day:
I was at Wolf, but sad to say it was much earlier so I missed meeting Ady and also the wind. Was almost dead south when I was there, and it made for smooth conditions if not necessarily enough wind, I was only planing about 10% of the time but it was nice to see somewhere new and it is indeed pretty even compared to where I've been sailing before. Would recommend for other beginners.
Did you know.... Wolf Lake once had a race track located IN the middle of the lake?
Did you also know.... the litte forest to the NW of the lake is an old Nike missile site?
What a weird place. One of the few places in Cook Co you can go duck hunting too, so avoid the camo wetsuits I guess.
