Anybody ever sailed at Clear Lake, IA? Was up there over the weekend for a show at the Surf Ballroom. Lake looks great and they say it is one of the best sailing lakes in Iowa. Any comments appreciated.
Yesterday I successfully blasted across Lake Decatur in both of the footstraps! Also I slammed the hardest since I started, my poor board. The nose protector doesn’t do much, I really should’ve installed it on the very edge :(.. I’m find it difficult when I catapult to bring the back of the sail around when it happens, ( to try to save the nose from impact). My guess is the sail and boom are just to big for me to control in the moment.
Early on in my windsurfing life (aournd 1989 or so) I got the good advice to try really hard to get gear that was all the same, especially sails: always buy a quiver of same make and model. It makes everything much much easier in an already difficult sport. The Chinook masts are just soooooooooo much cheaper than the same thing from other brands, and it's the best quality.
