The only place to rig a new sail in January in Wisconsin is indoors! My living room will do. I am slowly replacing my aging Ezzy Lion quiver with new Goya Mark-2s. This time it is my 5.4 (and 8.5 here: https://youtu.be/xN-H7e6SV7I).
My take:
Flashy 1980's colors, impeccable fit and finish, super-smooth cam rotation, very good in gusty conditions as it spills excess wind very efficiently (lots of twist), plenty of power, yet light and balanced in all points of sail.
Rigging is easy and fast, but with such a narrow sleeve, it is best to initiate the downhaul early to maintain some tension and drive the last few inches of mast all the way in. This should help avoid most creases on the monofilm.
During my second session with the sail, I did my best speed run so far this year and reached 30knots top speed in anything but flat waters (check it out here: https://youtu.be/mGhRgEd4-N0)
I have a feeling that the Goya Mark-2 might not last as long as the Ezzy Lion but it is a bit more fast, punchy and crisp.
At less than a $900, the sail looks and behaves like a $1,100 2-cam equivalent of a well-known brand! Great deal.
