Description
Can't recommend the Gorge highly enough for Windsurfing! 4 out of 8 days were excellent - sailed 3.5 (which eventually became WAY overpowered) 4.5 , 5.0 and 5.5. A couple other days were marginal. If I had a 6.5 or 7.0 I could have sailed every day. There are lots of other outdoor activities - world class road and mountain biking, hiking, rafting and kayaking. Plenty of other fun things to do, including lots of things to do with a family - especially an active family. The area has lots of great food, produce, breweries and wineries. I stayed in an airB&B for $40 a night (an amazing deal, but also the best lodging I've ever had…really). I sailed mostly out of Mosier - a low-keyed launch with plenty of great sailors but without the flashy buzz of sailing in Hood River (which is cool in it's own way). Most days, after coming back to the launch in the evening, friendly locals would offer me an ice cold beer before I even got my vest off. Sexy babes and legal marijuana too. It was hard to come back.
