Stoked to find this thread as I'm working on a new speed project. the last one (photo attached) fell just short of the 50mph goal.

It's a new forum category ready-made for your project. Fire it up when ready.

Here is my peak speed of 2020 from a session in Hatteras. Peak speed is crazy this day. I love Hatteras. I went plenty fast this day but not sure I hit the speed recorded but it was a crazy day on a 69 liter and a 4.2. Broke a mast from Too much power. (over 40 knots on the day) www.strava.com/activities/3544858796 I personally don't count this one as I think it was mal-function on the data collection somehow.

If you can shoot me the GPX files, I can verify the speeds recorded by the GPS. But I'd agree - 47.8kn seems unlikely looking at your sailed course track. I DM'd you my email address so you can shoot me the gpx files. ;)

Looks like it’s going to be a cold air session at the road perhaps where I will record the highest speed. Hope we get a strong NW like we had there last time. I’m disappointed that I didn’t wear my GPS. I think coming into the boat ramp area on far side with the wind release off of the beach area is my best shot. Plus the warmer water is a bonus. I would also settle for a SW straight down the bridge pool, you get good flat water runs on both sides with ramps in the middle. Keep your fingers crossed. Maybe Halloween hauling and a howling!
