August 2, 2021. Lake Michigan. Sheboygan South Beach - Broadway Ave Launch.
Kinda like that one for all the gear almost floating in mid-air in an improbable balancing act.
August 17, 2021. Hood River, OR - Event Site Launch
Rental kit: Bic Techno Medium 112 / 5.0 Aerotech Sail (looks like an older Charge)
Family vacation and a quick afternoon windsurfing stop while traveling across OR and WA states.
September 1, 2021, AM sesh. Sheboygan South Beach - Blue Harbor Launch.
Fast Trimaran sailboat. Rare enough in the area and worth a fast broad reach chase!
Yes, he looked like he wanted a comfortable ride downwind. I don't think he had a genoa out and was most likely going below 10 knots. I was powered and was going above 21 knots. I'm not an expert but even he was lit, I don't think he could have done more than 15ish knots top speed.
Sheboygan South Beach and again on September 1. This time it was the afternoon session.
Riding with my friend Jeff (ex-windsurfer). He's the other local that I trust with his kite. Looks a bit close but no risk, no reward.
The kite pic is one of your best; very cool dynamic shot even if it's making my skin crawl a bit have the kitelines so close!
The boat in that pic I think is an F31. They're one of the few boats around here that'll do windsurfer speeds if in race trim and pushing, think speeds in the 20's. If anyone is interested in seeing some course racing with fast foiling boats, Chicago is hosting a SailGP event in June. Have seen these guys a couple times and even in light air they put on a show, plus the racing can be quite good. sailgp.com/races/season-3/united-states-...ix-chicago/overview/
Chicago SailGP in June: Interesting info; maybe worth its own post?
Picture of the day: Lake Winnebago, WindPower Launch.
Average picture but good times while riding with friends: Jason on his favorite Kona One and Alex in the background on a large slalom board (Might even be a Formula).
