Was a nice day, I gave it a try but my ankle/foot just wasn’t ready. However, it felt good just being on the board.
I was actually surprised you brought that small board and I think I might have a solution for you. On my next trip to Clinton I’ll bring my WindSUP/paddle board. It’s VERY slow in a straight line, but its plain flat 30” deck makes it easy to step around and it’s massive tail kick and soft rails let it spin around like a fan blade, so you can actually have fun with it if you get creative-swell surfing for example or various sail or paddle moves like those here: windsurfillinois.com/index.php/videos/719-your-guest
Fun day at the West Side. I finally got to meet Roman! He snuck down here. He wanted it to be a surprise. I sailed my 5.8 with 108 FSW. Wind started SE then the stronger wind was SSE-S from around 1:00 pm on, see graphs. Great to see everybody. Thanks for taking some pics of me Chris. And providing beverage and shuttle service for folks. Air temp hit 83 F!
Candy, candy Like a Turkey vulture circling above waiting for a feast, I check the site every few hours waiting for the pictures. Thanks Reid, I love them!
Great pictures Reid, Ady and Chris! Reid, you've got that go pro mast position down to a science! It was a fun day and nice to meet Roman and the shuttle service by Chris was awesome!!
I should start using the 5.7 with the Atom mainly. I think the Atom’s 110 liters are a better match for the sail , the patchy wind and not too much chop associated with that range. For my level the 94 is too demanding for the conditions, why make life harder then it is?!
Was good therapy rigging and going out and back and to be around the sport. Next time I will bring enough beverages for the whole class. Sorry for taking so many pictures and giving you more homework Reid! I know it takes a considerable amount of time to do what you do, thanks . Good to meet you Roman, maybe in the fall I’ll make it up your way. I’m shooting for being back on my board at the end of this month.
