I got to the lake around 10:15. As I was driving past The Road I could see the wind going down the bridge pool. So turned around to check out F13. Wind was looking great and coming right down the bridge pool, SW 25 to 35(see graphs) and swell building. Rigged 4.7. Got all set to go and bam it's not looking so great. I was having doubts but I was already rigged and the day was young. Ady showed up and I tried to talk him into rigging something bigger. When we got out there it was even worse. It was like it had just rained, but it's full sun. Or we ran out of quarters. This wind got kicked in the balls. A gust would come and the wind would fill in for a little bit like it was coming back, but it was just a tease. We stuck with the 4.7s for too long. But the lulls were so bad it would make any sail size schlog for a bit. The wind got shifty too. The wind came back around 3:30. And I broke down and rigged a 5.8. I had a nice sesh. I got off the water around 6:00. Water temp was nice at 65 F. Thanks for taking pics guys. And it was nice to see everyone. Not the best day to show off F13. And hope we all get to try it again.
Look at that nasty drop off on all the graphs. Base wind fell all the way to the mid teens with no gust at Decatur. And got shifty too.
To Hell with the wind, this photo shoot alone has been worth showing up. Excellent job with the camera Chris some of the pictures are undoubtedly magazine level, especially my favorite one:
In fact I like most of them so much that I would like to ask Reid to drop the whole session, all the pics not just mine, on a CD or I can bring a laptop the next time and copy them directly from the card. Consider the pub tab covered!
Thanks again for the opportunity to have such a great time with you guys! My only regret, we didn’t do a group picture. I’ll try to remember bringing a tripod the next time.
