It's off by roughly 20 degrees. So a SW is more like a WSW.

You can also check MC Light against the MC Buoy for strength. Develop a feel by watching either or both.

Yep, it's rare that I rig anything smaller than a 5.8 on Lake Michigan. Even though it's raging on the beach. Current plus head high swell blocking the wind requires more fin and sail.
