So that's what I'm looking at unless someone convinces me that tomorrow will be better. I have a "wild card" for Sunday too and if the wind cooperates it will be a double feast.

Hey it doesn't look so hopeless anymore! N or NNE 15-20mph. Any ideas for launches-I'm itching to try that peace of trash I bought from Windance. It seems to weigh a ton and half of it is quite soft it may sink to the bottom just by the weight of the rig alone

Driving to lake Andrea this afternoon. Not sure if I will be in the water. Need to find and evaluate all my gear today.

It felt good when the first wind gust hit me this morning while walking the dog. The Calomet buoy reads 13-21 NNW right now. I intend to sail the casino-Whihala Beach unless somebody has a better idea. Gotta stay true to the grand plan-blasting at Wolf, surfing at the Big Lake.

Not sure I have a better idea, but my thought was Montrose. I'm tempted by Casino but worried that I have no particular knowledge whether it will work ...as opposed to Montrose. I know that as long as the crib is reading 18 knots and above, Montrose will work for me on the 6.2/105. Given that it's marginal right now, I'd prefer to stick to what I know. If it cranks up into the mid-20s, I wouldn't mind giving Casino a shot.

If you do go to Casino, I'd be curious how it works out. I'm sure the waves will be a lot cleaner than the washing machine : )

Montros is cranking. Deciding between 6.2 and 5.4.

Came in for a tea time. The 86 and 5.8 and it's a blast!!! Can't say it's clean, can't say it's not gusty, but the real problem is the jetty at the parking lot. Great time nonetheless !!! Don't regret buy g the junk-it rocks

It doesn't seem that the wind went down , but I started having issues with the 86. Did I get tired or the waves got bigger or both, but I came dangerously close to the rocks. Anyway got out safely and switched to the Windsup. Aahh the stable platform is so comfortable and goes upwind like on rails.
Having a second tea break. Surfing is very tiring, but gratifying game!

Montrose delivered. 5.4 from noon to 3:00 pm. Alan on 5.0. Thereafter, could have rigged a 6.2 for another hour and a half...if it wasn't 40 F : ) Washing machine was on gentle cycle today. The waves never had a chance to build before the wind started coming down.







And, finally, Alan has been working on a new move. He calls this one the "car seat."

Great sailing today indeed! I think I finally was able to collect the "Holly Trinity" of boards for myself. For some reason every single one of them is a Starboard-I'm a fan boy I guess. 9' Converse Windsup; 110L Atomiq and 86l Kode. It looks like I'm covered from 0 to 50mph nicely. I like the combination Windsup/ 86 for the Big Lake it lets me switch the boards when the wind drops without changing sails at the same time.
Now the comparison between Montrose and Casino. I need to sail Montrose again to refresh my impression,but Im pretty sure Montrose wins. First the logistics : paying hefty toll on the Skyway and looks like any time soon for parking at the Whihala beach/ parking meter newly installed/ makes it expensive. There is grass for rigging and it's a short walk to the waters edge-that's a positive. But then the frikin jetty is right next to the parking lot, so you have to sail very far out to gain upwind ground initially or walk a long walk upwind and if you break something you might get washed on the sharp rocks-a scary tought. The wind was maybe lighter then at Montrose-the max I registered was 20 mph and after 3pm it dropped down to 14 mph. Waves were not bad and I even did 3 top turns on a very long one and several doubles!
And lastly : all the people taking pictures of me were complete strangers
I have to take a few crashing lessons from Alan obviously , becouse unlike him I fall on top of the sail or the mast which is painfull and sooner or later I'll break something -like maybe my rib today after a fall on top of the boom /I didn't put on the impact vest to save weight -what an idiot!/ .
