Ahola Amigos, I'm planing on visiting my son in Durango late March, early April. I thought i might break up half the trip and stop in at Wilson state park in western Kansas. Looks like they get alot of wind and have some great mountain biking. I would prefer to stay in the park but the cabins do not allow dogs, I'm hoping someone might have some experience they could share on where to launch considering wind direction and where to stay. Thanks!

In tent + MRE's. I guess you could stay in Russell, but it's like 15 miles away.

Wilson Lake is a great place to shred. Stopped in on easter weekend. Windy the whole time. Beautiful clean lake. Sailed a 95lt and 5.2. Completely filled in. Stayed at the Railroad Inn, very historic with a great bar and restaurant. Walked the mostly vacant downtown after a couple of cocktails. A step back in time. A really great experience all around. If your planning a trip let me know and ill give you the low down. The mountain biking is epic as well.
