Have you been there? Once you see Ho'okipa from the parking lot, you'll realize that this might not be the "fun" spot you think it is. If it's going off, it'll be SUPER crowded, like Doug's Beach-on-a-4.0-day-crowded, it's a very small beach, both sides are pinned in by cliffs of sharp volcanic rock, and the waves are huge. There's very little room for error, and that's if you're an expert level wave sailor. You need to be able to fast tack a short board on dime 100% of the time, in white wash, or you'll on the rocks or down wind past Mama's.
I took one look at that chaos and said, ".......pass".

I've never been there, doesn't look too bad from the video. Seemed like they could stand up near shore. Any suggestion on a better beach to sail in Maui? Thanks for the heads up though, would hate to spend all that money going there only to get worked on some rocks or have to dodge people all day!

Sail at Kanaha beach park or spreckelsville. I sailed Kanaha every day and was perfectly happy.
