C  linton Lake: not too far north to miss a  southwesterly, not too far south to miss a northwesterly.  Its location in the extremely flat, open plateau farmland of central IL, just SSW of Moraine View State Park, makes Clinton Lake one of the most wind-exposed windsurfing lakes in Illinois.  The surrounding area is downhill in nearly all directions from the lake.   At 690+ feet, the lake level is higher than the town of Decatur, and once north of Bloomington it's all downhill to Chicago.  (No pun intended.)
