Purgatory Cove without any

RIG & LAUNCH
»
Purgatory Cove has one of the nicest parking lots and rigging areas on the whole lake to
launch you into one of the most inhospitable coves you've ever seen. It's a
“Lewis & Clark” launch site. It requires some swimming, some carrying and some
wading. Make friends with it; a good attitude will help get
you through. Purgatory Cove feeds on anger and impatience.
WIND
»
Westerlies in the Main Pool can provide the steadiest wind at Clinton Lake. A WNW wind
at an angle of 295+ is required to properly launch out of the cove. The wind will
blow all the way down from the Dam Pool giving you the longest fetch the lake has to offer.
WATER
»
The cove is deep and plagued with stumps. You can work your way around the left edge or
brave swimming up the middle. If you swim, take it slow and watch for stumps hiding just
under the surface. When you reach the top of the cove you'll be rewarded. It’s
almost a mile long reach of steady wind, nicely formed swell, and ramp after ramp waiting to send you skyward.
